Baseball’s global footprint and demographics continue to expand as women’s baseball was officially launched in Argentina.

Opening games in the Metropolitan Women’s Baseball League were recently played in the Argentinian capital at Estadio Nacional de Ezeiza with Argentina Baseball Federation President Sergio Martín throwing out the ceremonial first pitch to launch the league.

Five clubs based in Buenos Aires will compete over a 24-game schedule in the Metropolitan Women’s Baseball League. The top four clubs will advance to the semi-final playoff before the top women’s baseball team is crowned.
