GERMANY – The Heidenheim Heidekoepfe tallied a pair of impressive road wins over the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg this weekend to remain unbeaten in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. The Legionaere (0-4) will be looking to get in the win column next weekend against the Bad Homburg Hornets.

Shawn Larry uncorked a grand slam to help the Heidekoepfe (4-0) pound the hosts 18-3 on Friday night. Gary Michael Owens added a long ball and joined Mitch Nilsson with four hits apiece to pace an eye-popping 23-hit onslaught.

Heidenheim starter Johannes Krumm (2-0) labored over six innings to pick up his second win of the young season.

Justin Eramus (1-0) and Clayton Freimuth combined on a four-hit shutout as the visitors completed the two-game sweep on Saturday with a 6-0 victory.

Erasmus, an Australian right-hander, racked up seven strikeouts while limiting Regensburg to four hits and two walks over six-plus frames.

Mainz Athletics vs. Mannheim Tornados

American Riley Barr fanned 10 in a dominant complete game outing to help the Mainz Athletics edge the Mannheim Tornados, 2-1, on Saturday to earn a series split.

A hard-throwing righty from Colorado who pitched for New Mexico State University, Barr (1-1) surrendered a lone score on two hits and three walks en route to his first win.

Former Grambling right-hander Cory Jordan (1-1) was saddled with the setback despite a solid seven frames.

Dominik Hoepfner’s walk-off RBI single in the 11th inning lifted the Tornados to a stunning 11-10 comeback win in the series opener on Friday night.

Trailing 10-0 and down to their last three outs, Mannheim knotted the score with a 10-run ninth highlighted by Juan Martin’s two-run blast to set the stage for Hoepfner’s game-winning hit.

Marcel Schulz drilled a grand slam for Mainz which also got home runs from Lennard Stoecklin and Zach Johnson.
