MEXICO – Yadiel Rivera sprinted home on Jonathan Morales’ sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning to help Puerto Rico claim the 2017 Caribbean Series title with a 1-0 victory Tuesday night over Mexico.

The Criollos de Caguas, which stumbled to a dismal 1-3 record in the round robin, earned their first Caribbean Series championship since 1987 and fourth overall.

Adalberto Flores pitched brilliantly for the newly crowned champs and took a no-hitter into the sixth. The tall right-hander yielding one single and a walk to go with two hit batters over six frames before exiting with a blister on his right hand.

Reliever Miguel Mejia worked two scoreless innings to notch the win.
